Dr. Jennifer Wilhelm

Dr. Jennifer Wilhelm is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with over 20 years of experience caring for patients in Western North Carolina. Dr. Wilhelm and her husband, David, moved to Asheville immediately after her Internal Medicine residency in 2002. She started her career in the area at Pardee Hospital Internal Medicine Associates and transitioned to Advent Health where she practiced until joining PrimeHealth Asheville in 2022. As a child growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee, she knew at an early age that medicine was her calling. She attended Vanderbilt University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. It was at Vanderbilt that she met David. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1999 after being awarded membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, the country’s highest medical honor society. She subsequently did her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. At the time of residency completion David’s career brought them to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. Dr. Wilhelm enjoys being able to spend quality time with her patients, allowing a very personalized approach to their healthcare. She is her patient’s health care advocate and partners with her patients, championing their ability to achieve optimal health through disease prevention and wellness promotion. Dr. Wilhelm lives in South Asheville with her husband, two teenage children and her beloved rescue black lab, Bo. In her free time she enjoys being involved with her children’s school and sporting activities. She also loves to exercise regularly and travel to new exciting places.
