Joint Injections

For those who suffer from the enervating problem of joint pain, our medical center is equipped and trained to administer joint injections to help alleviate pain and swelling. As the name indicates, these injections go straight to your joints, whether it is your wrist, knee, spine, shoulder, elbow, hip, or ankle that is experiencing the discomfort/pain. Generally, the injection is a concoction of local anesthesia and corticosteroid medication.

What Can Joint Injections Help With?

Our steroid joint injections can help with a variety of medical conditions. These include the following:

  • Arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Palindromic rheumatism
  • Back/spine pain
  • Bursitis
  • Tendonitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

Skin Lesion Procedures

Skin lesion analysis and removal is another service provided at PrimeHealth Asheville. A skin lesion involves an abnormal growth on your skin, and our experienced staff can help with any lesions that become too bothersome or uncomfortable as well as verifying any cancerous or precancerous lesions.

The types of skin lesion procedures performed at our facility include:

  • Biopsies: A biopsy involves removing a piece (and at times the entirety) of your skin lesion to be tested at our laboratory. The types of biopsies we offer at PrimeHealth are a shave biopsy which only removes the outermost layer of the skin, and punch biopsy that involves extracting a small portion of the lesion.
  • Excisions: Also known as an excisional biopsy, an excision is performed when removing an entire lesion. Notably used for getting rid of cancerous skin lesions such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma, excisions can also prove useful in removing an inflamed or recurring infected cyst as well as relieving symptoms from tender or loose lesions.
  • Cryotherapy/Cryosurgery: Much like an excision, cryotherapy also removes unwanted tissue, but by utilizing the freezing temperature of liquid nitrogen. It is generally recommended for treating actinic keratosis, seborrheic keratosis, skin tags, viral warts, dermatofibromas, and molluscum contagiosum.
